Training The Queens

One thing Mike my boss says to me is I have a diverse range of clients, which I definately do. And I certainly have a selection lately as I am now workng with 3 of Aucklands Drag queens. How have I managed to nab them?? Well they have the same problems as we do with fitting in exercise into busy routines, and they all want to lose that little bit of weight cos they have been bursting out of their brassiers... lol.

Since I started with Wolfs Gym, the doors have opened for me again and my clientel has increased again and I am busy, very busy. Years ago I used to train Miss Ribena. Kevin is NZ's most outragous Drag Queen and he is a drag entertainer only and doesnt dress in female clothing 24/7) but he didnt like my old gym so I lost him as a client.. Now I have him back cos he loves Wolfs Gym and is really comfortable there... gosh he cracks me up all the time.. he is hilirious. It is so hard to be the serious trainer with this client.

Workouts are very different with Kevin compared to other clients. I think he is the only client who tells me what we are trainng and how we are "tranning" - I mean training it. He walks in and says "Sista, I want to pump this - pointing to chest - pump this!! pointing to his biceps and and pump pump pump this - pointing to wherever - shoulders normally... When I point out we havent done legs or calves he thinks hard for a good excuse and comes up with "Darling I have to walk around in 6 inch heels tonight with 3kgs of dress on - I dont need to do calves". Fair enough. But I do get him to do quads and hamstrings which he moans about but secretly loves.... I know he does.

Anyway hard trainng with cardio and weights 5 -6 days per week and his body fat is steadily melting and he is looking noticably smaller. When you know how these guys live/work it is easy to understand how they suddenly find themselves unfit or overweight. Most have other jobs during the day and the drag performances are at night in clubs which start late and go into the wee hours of the morning 2-3 nights per week at least. So I expect food and drinks, not always alcholic, keep their energy levels up. And resisting the urge to eat at functions is hard for anyone - its all part of the job.

One other guy I am helping is going to Germany to compete in the Gay games. I cant take any responsibility for training him or his contest condition as he trains at Les Mills with another trainer but I have helped him with his posing, which was pretty easy really as he moves really well and is a quick learner. We have another session on Friday then I am sending him onto one of NZs best posers for a routine worthy to perform in Germany representing New Zealand. The other guy of the 3 I am helping is training with me to tone up and lose weight. He has already lost a huge amount by himself but has alot to go and is ready to start learning about food. Im quite excited about helping this man.

So I shall keep you posted on the guys.

It is Jordies birthday this weekend so I have the birthday party here.. A boys sleepover and a visit to the spooky mini golf out here etc. Tennis and swimming planned. I guess there wont be alot of sleep in my house this weekend.

I had a really nice weekend with Brad, Tom and Jordie here to stay this past weekend. Brad and Tom came over after Jordies Rugby and we had dinner and went to the Shrek movie which was abit of a laugh. I won the fight with my eyes not to sleep during the movie so that is saying something.. I am known for even falling asleep during the theatre like Phantom of the Opera front row seats. Now that wasnt a good look for the cast to see. how embarrasing.

Anyway Im off to bed. Id like to praise Jody Walford who is competing soon - in about 3 weeks and she is doing absolutely awesome with her diet. Her pics which come through to me weekly or fortnightly show a dramatic change although she really doesnt see it. She can write to me one day sounding tired and totally over it then next day wow, drastic drop in scales again and she is rapt and "on" again. Im really proud of her. Shift work as a nurse is tough but she is looking amazing. Cant wait to see how the next few weeks go for her. Just keep it up Jodes and remember we are all behind you
xxx.

Life Is Fun...

Jeez, for all you people out there unhappy in your work, get out and try to get a job which you love. I have always like working as a trainer... and have done so for many years now, but how exciting is it going to work in a place which you love.. I have been on a high since starting my new job. The clientele is building up, I still have my regular clients and have the most amazing two people as my bosses. Plus I have met some wonderful new people on the job. New clients have come my way and Im looking forward to seeing some brilliant results with them.

I actually went to the gym today - Sunday.. that us unheard of for me unless I am contest training but I went in with Olivia today and trained hamstrings and had a few laughs while battling it out on the stairmaster. Shit that piece of equipment has got to be the hardest and I think I am reasonably fit.

Ive had this stupid chest cold for over a week now. chest cold and sore throat etc. Had one run this week when I thought it would knock the cold out of me, but it didnt work. Still most people I talk to have had a lingering one for a few weeks so I guess I am not the only one.
Im hateing the winter. Im a moaner I know but I just cant stand it. I would perfer the cold of the South Island anytime over the wet Auckland weather - and the winter has only just started.. Oh we got a long way to go.

There hasnt been alot to write about lately. After last weekends competition my girls are remotivatd and refocused on other events so it is a new start for them. My training is say-so. Dylan and I are still training (he trains hard out) and this week I actually trained between clients and got all muscle groups done. That was the first for a few weeks. Just changing jobs took abit of settling into, although it was very stressfree, but work is only 2 mins from home so it is easy to head home and get abit of work done between clients but last week I decided to stay at work and get my training in. So that was a good decision as I feel really good. Not as good as I would feel in summer with getting out for runs all the time but still good in mind and body. Anyway Im headng off to bed now.. Will snap some pics this week at training and start posting much more with client news and recipes again.Time to kick my own butt now. xxx I Have added some older pics - hope you dont mind abit of history
Me and American Wolf at the arnold in 2008. Now I work for the British Wolf, and the best one. Bet ya know who this is. Look at those eyes... hummmmaaaa... Tre Tre Tre, your the man....

The Weddng And The Comp

Well Saturday was work day, wedding day and competition day.. But I didnt get to the comp and relied on texts from the girls, mainly Julia and Monty keeping me up with what was happening.. Olivia and I went out to Kumeu where we had a very good time witnessing Teresa marrying her "Oak" of a man, Sam. It was such a beautiful wedding, with Teresa saying the longest and most well learnt speech I have ever heard, not one stummer, not one ummmph, or not one stumble. She was incredible. And she was very gorgeous. Her excitement shone through all the time with her giggles and wiggly lil dance of victory a few times during the ceremony. Olivia and I had so many laughs over the night. We both went in our very highest heels as we had it from good authority that the outdoor path was good for walking in heels. Well somebody who doesnt wear heels must of said it. As soon as we arrived to the venue we had to make our way from the carpark to the reception room whichh was no easy challenge for us.. However we laughed our way there and managed not one fall or broken heel. Into the reception hall, got a champas, walked our spot to drink and spot people when over the microphone was there " would the owner of the car with the licence plate...... please move their car". I thought it was so funny but then it wasnt my car...lol.
So we had a few stories like that. The walk to the rotunda for the wedding ceremony which was tough on the shell paths etc and Olivia having to keep her full skirt held tight cos of the wind, and me keeping my dress at a reasonable length cos it could get on the short side..
We had a great evening though, the food was absolutely amazing with a gorgeous menu to choose from. God it is so nice not to be contest dieting so I enjoyed a few glasses of champas and some dessert.. Yeah I know I will be writing about feeling fat again this week.

we didnt have phone coverage at all out there at the winery so had to catch up with the girls and get the results after we left the reception. Everyone was reasonably happy with their results but with a small show any everybody being allowed to compete in numerous classes, there would not of been many people without a good result.
I saw some of the pics but waiting for Keith Jollys version as he always has nice close ups and good quality pics on site to make judgement from. Julia was happy with how she looked, and I thought she looked gorgeous in the couple of pics she has. Definately totally unlike the tired lil thing who was settled on my couch on thursday night close to tears.

Well I have had a chest cold, which is verging on chest infection I think. I took to the couch for 8 hours yesterday then to bed, and much the same this afternoon... Its not like me to do that, I didnt even get on the computer so Im hoping for a recovery tomorrow otherwise it will be off to the doc, and I hate that option. Will update again tomorrow as I spent some time with Damien today - Damien is from Dunedin and comes to auckland only once per year to catch a competition and to catch up with bodybuilders he respects. More about that later. xx

Wedding Day/Comp Day

Ok No its not me gettting married.. Today is the she normally makes all the contest girls absolutely stunning on the day, however today the contest girls are having to do without her.. While Teresa is getting married today, the comp girls are struggling with their own makeup or using someone who hasnt really got the experience of our "T"

Anyway Im looking forward to seeing Teresa do this wedding thing today..we will be out at a Winery out in Kumeu, I think the weather is predicted to be gorgeous and Im looking forward to sitting back and having some delectable food and wine. My partner for the day is Olivia - my hairdresser and good friend of many years so we will definately have some laughs..

In the meantime I have some clients competing today.. Julia of course who is sounding much better in spirits today than she was yesterday where she described herself as "Blah". Julia has lost over 45kgs of weight for this comp and I have been amazed that she actually reached her weight loss goal, and give her full credit for that, but she isnt happy with the bodybuilding body. But she loves performing routines and has a brilliant one to boot so she will rock the house. Still my next goal for Julia is now not to let her have any more babies (James I'm puttng a chastity belt on her cos I dont trust you not to get her preggers again) do the club physical comp in September and not to put on more than 10kgs of fat over her competition weight in future. and im sure that this time next year she will have the bodybuilding body that she wanted.
Then we have Tara from Matamata who is doing physique also and is looking hooooottt....She has a fab body, the most awesome biceps on a wee girl and she will do well today. And we have Jen Baird who is competing today also who is very confident, lean, and positive - Jen is the type of girl who will love it so much today we will be seeing her compete for the next few years, and then we have Julie Harris. Julie looked amazing over in Aussie at her comp last week and will be still looking amazing this week. She changes bodyweight only slighly off season and on season so she manages competitions easily - well not easily but compared to some she brezzes in without too much trouble. So Id like to wish the girls all the best and hope the help I have then whether nutrition, posing or training has been valuable to them to make their day successful.

Ok Im off to get ready for work. chat later.xx

From Fab To Fat In One Day

Ok you may recall that yesterday I wrote my blog and said that I have cut my running down - well I have had this really sore knee and have visions of old men running the streets with knees obviously so out of line that they are almost on the side but yet they continue to run. I have thought of that often and decided I didnt want to be the old lady running with people laughing on the side of the footpaths at my obvious bad allignment or deformities, so I cut my running down to about 2 x per week and thought I was doing ok with holding my weight. I was talking to Mike (my boss) today saying I dont like to stray too far out of shape and I was feeling really good about myself - Kind off - well we are never as confident as we are close to contest when we are feeling super confident but too damn tired to enjoy it... Tonight I trained back & biceps with Dylan and came home and decided to take pics of my very basic tofu and bean dinner - which is pictured below. Then I decided to whip my top off ( to my bikini top) and take some pics of my abs - and what did I find. They were almost gone. Damn - shit when did that happen? so I came up with a few excuses, the lighting, Ive had a sore tummy today, ummph I was so relaxed at home I wasnt posing properly, but the pics looked back at me and said "fat ab-less tart". So then I looked over my food for the last few days..
Not good overall really. Saturday, worked morning and spent afternoon laying around watching dvds with Jordie after eating a meal which I wont even tell you about - so overall - no extra calories burnt that day..
Ok sunday dinner with Brad, Tom and Jordie. But I did 1 x 50 min run in the afternoon, had my normal meals plus Toms dinners which was a small/average amount of pasta and the yogurt/meringue/berry dessert which was to die for afterwards. Yikes, I should of just had the fish which was devine.. Ok onto monday. Monday NO CARDIO - but I trained shoulders evening and had a good session, ate well as usual. Tuesday, no cardio but I taught a 65 mins pump class hard out, sweated like a pig, and had no carbs after 1pm and had very good food..
today I did 20 mins on the stairmaster, plus trained back and biceps, oats and protein powder for
breakie, protein shake for morning tea, kumara and chickie for lunch, chicken for after noon tea, tofu and beans for dinner and one protein shake before bed.

So my goal now for the next week is to drop 1kg and get the abs back. Maybe they will be back tomorrow morning - maybe not
but ths hasgiven me a shake up and Im not one to leave things to fate. Tomorrow I am running - wonky knees or not.. Pics next week.. xx
My beans, tofu and, tui sauce and mustard yuk, yuk yuk, bad fat day, we all have them

New Job, New Experiences

Sorry not to have updated till now. Life has been crazy - good but damn crazy... On Thursday my life took a dramatic change. Through sheer good luck I began work at Wolfs Gym in Henderson.. Where you say? never heard of it.. Well everybody has heard of Wolf, the British Gladiator. Well "Wolf" his real name is Michael Van Wijk - is now my boss and I feel like I have known him forever. I first visited Wolfs gym a couple of weeks ago when the gym I was working at was renovating and I had some out of town clients booked in - but on getting to work I found they were wheeling the equipment around on trolleys clearing the gym - not good when you have promised paying clients an amazing workout. So I popped down to Wolfs to ask if I could train there and was welcomed there as a casual. I was impressed on the spot. As it turned out I didnt use Wolfs that day but was so eager to go there that I went to train with Dylan my training partner the following week and loved it.

The following week I was welcomed to Wolfs Gym as a PT by Mike and his gorgeous wife Paula. Mike has owned 4 gyms in England so he knows what he is doing with them, how to keep his members happy, what to provide for them and how to treat and I was absolutley rapt at being on staff.
My new gym "Wolfs" which is on the corner of Moselle and Waipaiera Ave in Henderson is "amazing". I actually feel like I am in love. Only a bodybuilder could fall as strongly in love with a gym such as I have, but I have. The gym size is just perfect, couldnt tell you in metres but big, I wouldnt like to clean it. It is amazing in state of the art equipment - everything is brand new with not a piece of second hand equipment to be seen, and the atmosphere is so comfortable but motivating that I dont want to leave there. So after only 5 days of being there, I am settling in nicely and enjoying taking my clients there and meeting new clients. The pricing at Wolfs is very reasonable at $18 per week with no joining fee and the casual fee is $10.00 per visit but you can check things out on the website www.wolfsgym.co.nz
I promise to add lots of pics in the next week of the gym and show you what it is all about.
Oh one of the things I love about Wolfs is the "Stairmaster", two of them in fact. Wolfs is possibly the only gym in Auckland with them and I challenge anyone to last 10 mins on one without alot of moaning and groaning and buckets of sweat. I did 20 mins on it on Monday and my butt and quads ached from 7 mins onwards.. I'm game to get on again tomorrow and do 30 mins. My challenge of the day for myself..
Ok so here are some of the brilliant points that I love about Wolfs Gym
1. Me, Wolf and staff are there to help everybody,..lol
2. The fantastic new equipment - from a iso-lateral preacher bench that I have never seen in any gym Ive trained in, to the iso lat raise machine. You have to try them out to believe it. us.commercial.lifefitness.com
3. Fastastic pumping music, you wont hear the radio, or staff advertising promotions over mics, or Johny Cash or Crystle Gale at Wolfs gym
4. The Stairmaster and the many treadmills/recumbant bikes, rowers etc that are available - there are more than enough for everybody
5. Benches are designed to fit the body, the olympic bars are perfectly straight and the equipment is well maintained.
6. Ezy curls bars and straight bars of every weight increment you possibly need and dumbells, 3 dbell racks to choose from with double ups of everything.
7. Weight plates, trees + collars everywhere - you dont have to go hunting or wait for somebody to finish
8. Huge range of different handles, ropes, + attachments for any & every exercise possible
9. Spacious showers and toilets + lockers upstairs, and a handy unisex and wheelchair tiolet downstairs
10 12 more pieces of equipment arriving and a mezzazne floor being built at the end of the month - whoppee
11. Programme cards with pics so you know what to look for during those important first few weeks, + fitness assessments available at first appt
12. The best thing of all. You dont have to join a transformation challenge to get help at Wolfs. The staff - Russell, Andrew and
Mike will personally help you in the gym with anything you need and when you need that extra help or one on one sessions, Dion or myself are available by appointment at extra cost.

Ok so I stopped at 12 but could go on and one - The protein shakes, thick and gorgeous and 45 grams of protein, 8 grams carbs and super yummy. But I shall film a training session in the next week and show you some of the gear which is available and hopefully you will be tempted to come over and work out with me or come for a special visit at any rate.

I think it is an understatement to say I am excited.. lol.
Ok Im off to bed. I still need to tell you about my muscle weekend with 3 New Plymouth Chicks but I will do. It was an awesome weekend and I will write about them for you on Friday. night everybody - Cant wait to get to work tomorrow xx
Mike - the man himself stripped down for Trisha, Ashleigh and Sharon the first day of training at "Wolfs" Mke, my boss, known to most as Wolf the British Gladiator The iso lateral bicep machine - expect a huge range of machnes to hit each muscle group from every angle at Wolfs

Back To Training

This week has just flown. Ive already told you about my first couple of days with Brett and Jody and the rest of the week mainly involved training and work - what else is there? As you all know I train and work from Club Physical Te Atatu. At the moment they are doing huge renovations to the gym area putting in a new aerobic room with sprung floor for the zumba addicts, which is I must say a huge improvement on the other room but it has taken from our main gym and caused alot of problems with training just while the renovations are happening. Its actually hard to get motivated in there with the noise of the workers and the atmosphere of the place has actually changed as well, so in the short term it is not good, but long term it will be an awesome new look. In the meantime Dylan and decided to have a workout at wolfs gym. Wolf is the British gladiator, a very humble guy who has put alot of thought and money into the setting up of the gym. I loved the workout that we had there and loved chatting to Wolf as well. What a nice man. I dont get to travel to other gyms for training very often mainly cos time between my own training etc is limited and other factors, like my total dislike of driving.

Yesterday I had time off work to go watch Jordies rugby game.. Last night when I asked Jordie if he enjoyed me surprising him my turning up to the game, he said "Yeah you drove such a long way to see it" Hmmmh it was 5.7kms away. Little smart bum.
Anyway talking about rugby.. The morning while I was at work was gorgeous, sunny, warm etc. By the time I got to rugby at 11.30 it was turning abt sour, and by half time I was wet cold and totally peeved off. I didnt enjoy it at all. Enjoyed seeing the boys of course but winter sports are not my cup of tea. Id rather attempt a workout of 1000 squats rather and standing 10 mins in the cold and rain.

I have an awesome weekend coming up this weekend. I have 3 woman coming to stay for a muscle weekend so there will be lots of posing, tranng, cardio, etc. I think the four of us will be pretty buggared and I actually feel very sorry for the poor girl who is driving home. Hopefully they will all take a hours turn each as they drive from here back to New Plymouth. I shall tell you more about it this week.

I started back on my supps this week. Im just waiting on another order from BSc but I started on my vandrobol again www.bscnutrition.com.au
and my tornado force before and during training
and of course my protein powder which I cant live without.

I have made some good videos lately so will get them on site over the next week or so... Anyway Im off. got a busy afternoon so catch you all later. Have a read of my daughters blog which I have just added to site. It is very funny. xx
I'm really trying hard to keep my weight at bay at present with limited cardio and Im working on gaining some size over the next 6 months Keeping abs is high priority. The minute I see a deteriation is the time I checklist my routine and food Enjoying lay off time from serious training and diet and loving homelife
