2012 - how did this happen so quickly

Well the holidays have been and gone... Anybody living in NZ, particulary Auckland would agree the weather has been absolute RUBBISH....  With most days the rain has been drizzling at some stage, or the sun appears when it is too late to enjoy it,  or else it has been overcast and windy..  So many peoples camping trips and beach hols have been ruined... Oh we have had the odd good day but of course it is normally the day you have planned to do something busy... With me working as a trainer has meant that I have been quite quiet over this period... I still have some of my regulars which is good and the odd new person but mostly I have been able to enjoy some time off with Bee and Jordie and enjoy the rain and lack of sunshine. Training has been pretty spasmodic but I have done some and also headed out for some runs so the balance has been good.. Not too much and not too little. So did you make a New Year Resolution... I didnt!!!!    Actually I never do which could account for why I am never disappointed when I dont get to climb Mt…

Its nearly Xmas

Please note pic:  the perfect summertime training gear...... BSc Compression wear.. training legs never felt better Well it has been a pretty eventful couple of months really over November and December... I have had another birthday  51 years now boohoo...  Hate that number or any number beginning with 5....  I had a brilliant birthday party with friends coming around and celebrating with a few drinks and some nice food.  Got some lovely pressies including a gorgeous ring from Bee......  Its devine so I was a very happy girl.  Had a nice dinner out with Jordie and Bee so that week I was feeling particularly spoilt and happy.  After that I had a couple of bad weeks where everything that could of went wrong did.   Firstly my ipod disappeared from where I had put it during my birthday party so that was a big disappointment...  I eventually got brought a new one by Bee so I only went a week without one and I never thought I would miss it so much.. But the Ipod is perfect to keep in my pocket at work so I can snap pics of my clients randomly so I was lost without it..  Over…

November again

I can believe how fast the year has gone.  This time last year I was all amped for my 50th birthday. This year Im trying desparately to get the years to start moving in reverse so I can be 49 in 16 days... I aim to  be 45 for my son Brads 30th... wonder if that will happen lol In the last year so much has happened, good and bad.  I have seen the devastation and destruction of my home town,Christchurch (thankfully all my family were unharmed) seen my eldest son pack up and move to Aussie, watched  my youngest son shoot up and tower over us all while completing his last year at imtermediate,, watched from afar my beautiful daughter living it up in London and travelling to amazing places like Morocco and Ibiza,  met some wonderful new clients, continued training dedicated long term clients, and also said goodbye to a few clients who have given up on me or given up on training, but most of all I have seen myself get to this happy place where I am comfortable being who I am,  enjoying doing what I am doing and loving the people I choose to be with. For some reason I have…

Competitions, a weekly occurance.

Well we have all had our fair share of competitions these last few months. With the most recent federation the NABBA/WFF adding hugely to the 2011 contest calendar year,  the opportunity for athletes to shake their little tushes on stage has increased and with so many options of competitions, there doesnt seem to be a decrease in numbers competing either. the Nabba nationals had over 150 competitors in it..  Now thats huge.  That takes me back to the early days of the NZFBB when we used to wind up a show at 1am..   NABBA/WFF had their nationals last week with around 50 competitors  but they were very high quality and the physiques on show that days were impressive.  Alot of the competitors have supported all federations and I did hear of somebody who was going to try to do the NABBA/WFF nationals and the NZFBB show both in one day, by commuting quickly as possible from Takapuna to Hamilton.   It could of been possible maybe cos it is only 1.5 hours to Hamilton,  but the way the two comps were ran he didnt have the time to jump off stage, into the car and on stage to the next.   Would of been a laugh…

Just living and loving

Well one week since I have written and I have to say we have been having a fabulous time.  Bee has decided to not compete again this year so it is all relaxing and little training, and lots of loving for us this week.  Last week we did train and I did a few runs 2 or 3, but this week we are having the whole week off weights and just doing my runs. As much as I love training, having the time off is incredible.  Just not having the crazy rushing between clients etc to get training etc done has been lovely and Im feeling really quite spoilt having so much time on my hands, well not a huge amount but just a spare hour or two in the evening is making me feel pretty fortunate.   And geez I love to see Bee eating again.  He always did say that he loved to see me eating, whether it is a huge diet meal or a huge bad meal,  eating makes us happy and all couples want to see each other happy.  It was killing me to not be dieting anymore but to see Bee  hungry or eying up the avocados and cashews, or  sitting on the bike…

Top of the South

Well this time last week I was starving...  Not to the point where I could chew on cardboard or anything but I was definitely hungry, and tired and wanting something sweet and a different texture to that of George Foreman chicken.  Not giving away too many secrets here but I read a book from an author whose dieting theories are almost identical to mine - except he is alot more knowledgeable than I am.  I know what works for me and what works for most of my clients but this time I thought I would try something different.  After the Pans Pacific’s I got busy with work so my cardio was down on what I was doing for the actual competition.  Not only did I not have the time,  but I did want to try something different to come in fuller and to perhaps not hold so much water, so guest pose was time to experiment for me. I know my body so well that if anything went wrong I could still pull back and change again pretty quickly.  My body can change from hour to hour so it is pretty easy to manipulate it depending on how I am…

Nabba/WFF Pan Pacific Champion

Well 1 week later I finally get around to doing my update.  Sorry about that team. I know you have been waiting to hear what I have to say on my comp.  Im going to give you a brief rundown.   The week of the decarb I had a couple of totally low energy days. Im sorry to say I struggled at work but still worked and I have said thank you to all my clients for perservering with me. I wasnt grumpy but exceptionally tired.  For me personally, when decarbing I dont even feel like eating.  I was starving but the food does not stimilate the appretite so I was forcing myself to eat each meal which was mostly chicken - dry chicken lol.  I dont have alot of veges at this stage of my diet, well none really cos my body just doesnt handle them very well without carbs so I tend to just stick to my protein. so there is definately nothing exciting about that. On the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday  I was still having protein shakes, plus my chicken meals - thank god for protein shakes.  Then on the Thursday I added in my cashew nuts, unsalted + unroasted and also…

Contest day - Pan Pacifics 2011

Well it is a little ironic that contest day is the only day I have had time to update my site.  I can honestly say that leading into this contest this week has been one of the easiest ever.  The first few days of the week were bad,  well worse than bad as you all know when decarbing.  We did five full days of decarb so for the first 2 I was abit of a write off, then day 3 I came right and had energy from where I dont know but it was there in full swing. I think it had alot to do with brining back my flax seed oil and cashew nuts with 3 of my 6 or 7 meals of chicken breast, but it definately made a hell of a difference. Oh I weighed in last night at 63.6 ripped so was very happy with that. That is substantially heavier than my last arnold competition so I am very happy with the size I have gained over the 2.5 years.  On Tuesday I was low.  I was looking very forward to my run, planning to do my 50 min one but my legs felt really heavy…

6 weeks out form competition

Six weeks till my competition now.  Id like to say that it has gone past really fast but it hasnt really.  The best thing is I have made changes to my physique weekly which keeps the motivation up.  I talk about it alot with Bee and I think it is because over the years of training, I know my body inside out now.  I know what food affects me, what makes me look fuller,  what makes me hold water,  how much cardio is too much and how little is not enough. At the moment I have an awesome balance. I work in the mornings at 6am or 7am so this means getting out of bed at 5.00am and we do a hours walk. Theres only one weekday morning we dont do this and that is when I begin work at 6am.  Doing an hours walk rather than running like I normally do for each competition has meant I actually have alot more energy. I used to constantly feel drained with running but loved it so much I would never blame the running. Now I know that by running and using that much energy didnt really help me through the day…
