NEW ZEALAND'S NEWEST PRO

27.10.09

It is definately a constant battle keeping weight gain acceptable through-out the off season but it can be mentally rewarding and of course it is great not having to do the
big cover up all the time. At the moment my diet consist of the following

Meal 1 Oats or cornflakes with BSc Hydroxy Burn Protein powder mixed with water - I love sitting down with a bowl of dry cornflakes just nibbling while scanning the mornings emails and chugging down a protein shake. I think this has almost taken over my love of oats which is something I thought I would never ever say.

Meal 2 - Bsc Hydroxy Burn Protein drink ( made H2o only)

Meal 3 - Large kumara ( 200 grams , chicken breast ( 200ish grams ish..) and sauce of mustard and tui tomato sauce - sometimes asparagus or green beans thrown on the george forman

Meal 4 protein shake or 4 egg whites nuked with protein powder added or
sometimes protein shake with some fruit, Im into grapefruit or pineapple
or starwberries dipped into protein dip...
or I will go a savoury option and have some canned salmonn or tuna with tomato and fresh basil

Meal 5 - Omelette or steak ( about 3 times per week) salad or veges

Meal 6 - 4-5 hard boiled eggs ( 2 yolks cos I love them so much)

One weekend day normally a Saturday which is my busiest work day I have carbs for dinner which is my weekly cheat meal and some wine although I had two wine occasions this long weekend. My meal of choice can include goats cheese or parmesan, sundried tomatoes etc but not very often is my cheat meal based with carbs unless I want to make some kumara chips or a wrap for a change.
My favourite treat used to be a salmon steak but lately I have been finding it very rich so have not enjoyed it as much for a while now. I have noticed the more years I diet or eat clean off season, the more my tummy gets unsettled when I do go of track and I can be sick for days following.

I think it is important to realise that we do have to eat reasonably clean off season. We girls, compared to the guys dont have a lot of calories to play around with so we cant pig out on Macca's etc like they brag about. . As you can see, my diet is still pretty much a clean diet, which does get cleaned up even more than this when in competition mode, but I can stay relatively the same weight without having to increase my cardio much off season. I do run off season at least 4 times a week, some weeks more, some weeks less depending on how busy I am with work or other things, but is is brilliant knowing that cos my carbs are always low and managed, I dont have to stress out having to cardio every day as well as train hard in the gym. Please remember that Im not 25 any more as well, so somebody half my age may be able to get away with alot of more carbs etc.. But if your not happy with your body, and you think you eat well, then it may be time to begin to focus on lowering your carbs a little ( not cut them out, just drop them back).
Well it is almost the end of October and I will be starting a new blog for the countdown for my next event. My son is working on my site and we will be having regular video updates which Im looking forward to with a revamped site.
The contest season is still going strong with a few more events in NZ to come so good luck if you are doing anything. Im looking foward to helping take a team to the australasians next year and it looks as if there will be a few of us going to the Arnold too... So its looking good and Im really excited about it.
Cheers everyone...

Well school hols are over once again,. Thursday we went to the city and had lunch with Brad. Did a spot of shopping, abit too much really but taking Jordie shopping with me cuts it down buy at least half as he is one of those "Are we leaving yet? kinda of kids.

Well the Nationals went off pretty well. I actually enjoyed the whole day so much. Regardless of the late start and eveything, things were pretty cruisy for me. I had anticipated the late start for both the prejudging and finals so didnt plan on getting to the venues till 45 mins later so worked sweet for me but the competitors had some very long waits. I had forgotten my camera in the morning. I had been taking advantage of having an extra hour so I had a cook up making caramel protien pancakes, with banana, and topped with rasbperry jam. Made 10 good sized ones then took then to the even where I share them out to my competitors. They loved them... Actually they turned out so good I might run a stall next time. The quality of the competitors was amazing. The classic mens class was my favourite. I could sit back and enjoy as I had no clients in it,,,. The guys in this class were outstanding, As i had left my camera at home during the morning show, I acutally found I could enjoy the show far more than normal but I got 400 brilliant shots in the evening.

At the NZ National 2009 with Mike Debenham, Willie Walker, Brian McFarlane, Maryanne a judge from Guam and Mark

My favourite male competitor for the whole show was Mateo Vaihu who won the Novice Men 80-90 and second fav in my eyes was Aron Noble.

For the Females who I loved most ( other than my own clients were Maureen O'Connell who took out the Open Figure Tall and other favourite was Kaye O'Neill who has made a comback at 48 years of age. She is planning on heading over to Poland for the Masters Worlds along with Michelle Heggie who hopes to get there as well. They didnt give out best posing routines which was a shame as there were a few brilliant ones, and Linda Harringtons was the best for me,but I wasnt able to select one from the males...... other than Tony Ligaliga's "Michael Jackson" routine. How that guy gets to move every single muscle in his body individually I dont know.

My clients did brilliant and here are their results here.

Linda Harrington from Greymouth - officially 4th Place - Suraya Dewing 3rd Place, Senior Figure 35 years

Tracy Frost from KeriKeri placed 4th in the Open Woman Over 55kgs

Karen Montague who placed 1st in the BodyFitness tall and Donna Bezer who placed 2nd in the Open Physique O55kgs

Sarah Goldsmith from Matamata placed 1st in the Novice Figure Tall Class - Julie Harris placed 2nd in the Open Under 55kgs ( Nutrition by Alison Rainbow)

Mandi Matheson from Wellington - 3rd Place in the Open Physique Over 55kgs.

The Rotorua girls who came to 2 bootcamp session with me but are trained by Adrian Humphreys of Rotorua
From left Jane Mateo (3rd place ) who lost over 50kgs, Carol Doyle In masters over 45 and offiicial 4th Place, and Barbara Moyes official 5th Place in the Novice Woman over 55kgs.

Well I am off to work now so will close for now. My training is ampted for this week. Heading out for a run later this morning.. Had 4 good runs last week so will spend the next couple of weeks running daily then cut it back to 3-4 times a week while into hard training.
Have fun in the lingering excitement of the nationals. It was a good year. Next thing to get my clients fired up for is the Australasians next year. For me, something real big next year. xx

5th October 2009

Im in lust, with my sequined bum bags..

Nationals week finally, and I should be very very excited, and I am, but the Nationals has been overshadowed by the arrival of my
beautiful, sexy, useful, damn spunky belt bags.. When they arrived today I was the happiest girl alive - doesn't take much to make me
happy, but I have been belt-bagless for probably a year now. I have tried but couldnt bring myself to purchase the Louis Vuitton or the Gucci
ones.. or go purchase the hideous black vinyl ones, and now I have struck gold. I have been in glitter heaven all arvo.

So because of my new purchases, I actually trained this evening, not hard core, not even half core but did high reps and basically had everyone drooling over my sparkly bag. The guys were envious ( I could tell even though they didnt say it) and the girls, well I stopped them dead on their crosstrainers and they were wonder struck.
I could almost hear them saying " Oh my god, look at the bag". They were stunned.. One person did say, " Hey they would be good to wear to the night club", so I had to wonder, did she think I was over the top wearing it with my weight training belt... surely hell no!!... anyway I took the weight training belt off and left the sparkly number on.

So Im still looking forward to the Nationals just so I can show off my bags of many colours. It will be like a parade... Lol. You must remember to look at the competitors amd not be dazzled by my sparkliness......
Anyway while on the subject of sparkliness - well there are going to be some outstanding bodies on stage this year. My clients of course will be absolutely fabulous and I have named them on my home page but I have admiration for some of the other girls who I have come to know and wish everybody all the very best, no matter what class, where they are from and who they train with.. There will be a few faces missing who I really wish were competing but for personal reasons, we will talk about them after the comp, have decided to give this nationals a miss.

Physique classes are off course close to my heart, and this year it will be fabulous. My clients, Mandi, Donna and Julie Harris, Tracy Frost are competing as is long time friends, Michelle Heggie and Kaye O'Neill. Now that is going to be some serious muscle to muscle competition.. Very interesting..
I have helped in a small way cos she is a natural at this and has done very well with a 7 month old baby, but Sarah Goldsmith is competing in Novice Figure Tall after winning her first figure event at the CNI.. This woman is wonder woman. She owns her own gym, works in it, teaches in it, ,makes her own bikinis, has a baby and a farm, and she is gorgeous to boot. Does hair and makeup fantastic and has a kick ass routine with stage presence like no other novice competitor.
My Monty, I cant help but call her my Monty even though she isnt, but I have helped Monty since last year and she is the easiest cllient to deal with.. When we get on the phone, well that is trouble. An hour almost passes and we are still yak yak yacking.. She is gorgeous, staturesque and I love seeing her on stage. She look hot at the CNi and will continue to improve for the Nats. Suraya, what can I say about her... Her body has changed tenfold since the elite and I must admit she has surprised even me. She knows and agrees with me that she was lagging abit behind and I was worried about her for a time, but she has pulled something out of the bag ( other than nuts and raisins) and she is sporting the best set of abs I have seen for the year probably. I have a pic on my phone of her abs but cant transfer it to here, shame but she is doing very very well. Linda Harrington, a girl from my home town of Greymouth is competing and she did great at Chch but we will see a huge change in her as well.
she also has a very young baby, 7 months as well I think. If any of you reading this make excuses about competing, remember these girls who both have babys under 8 months, both work as trainers and have homes and other family members to organise - Now if they can do, anybody can.. Im sure it hasnt been easy for them at all.
Im looking foward to seeing a changed Physique from Donna Bezer. Donna hasnt had it easy, she is a busy trainer herself and has overcome probs with diabetes which affects her from losing weight quickly and as easily as most of us. Mark Rainbow helped her with some of her diet when I wasnt too sure how to keep helping her, and
her time is almost here. She has been a very busy girl. Raechelle Chase is definately a crowd favourite - well who doesnt love to see Raechelle on stage, and she has the most beautiful costumes as well. Next to Kirsty Thomson ( who hold a gorgeous short package with the perfect balance of muscle) from CHCH and with Monty, + other competitors, this should make for an awesome class to watch.
Another Figure girl I love is Sheryl Patterson. From what I can tell in Sheryls FB pics, she has the most beautiful body this year, well she does every year but she looks perfect this year.. My gosh, there are so so many beautiful competitors to mention so I have just detailed some of the girls I know or write to.
Oh here is my opportunity to say Hi to Barbara Moyes from Rotorua who brought her team of girls to a boot camp with me and follow up sessions. It was brilliant working with them and seeing them finally on stage at the regionals and hopefully nationals. I know Barbara is competing in the Nationals after winning the CNI so that was awesome for her. She is so so motivated she texted me this afternoon and asked how she can qualify for the Elite next year... lol.
I wont even get started on the guys... Anyway I am looking foward to taking some fantastic pics and getting them on site here as soon as I can.
Anyway I am off to get some sleep. It is almost 12.00 and beddy byes.
Will update again on Friday...... oh roll on saturday why dont ya.. xxxx

20th September 2009
What a few couple of weeks... crazy crazy.... Since I have written we have had the Elite event which was wicked with the inclusion of the gorgeous Aussie team. They took out all our trophys too which was good for them and not so good for us. Still they made our show a very sucessful event and I loved meeting them all. Its about time we took some competitors over there to compete.. I love the Aussie comps. Anyway Mark did announce that we may take a team over to compete early next year so I say bring it on...
We saw some amazing competitors at the event. I spent the entire prejudging taking pics of every competitor but I got somebody to download them onto my laptop for me and somehow they were not saved so I have lost the whole lot. I know I had some awesome very up close shots and some pics from out the back that nobody could get so I was a little dissappointed. I have lost the one with Mike Debenham and Justin Reese without shirts posing for me.. damn damn now that was a pic.

Things went pretty ok for my routine although I have not one pic of it. So if you have a couple then flick them through to me. Lisa Menzies from Go Figure put the worst one she could find of me on her site so all I can say is "what goes around comes around". lol. I shall have my camera aimed and ready at the nationals lol. But the pose went without a hitch and I was really happy to throw out my belt to the audience after it had been signed by the NZ Pros that I could locate - Mike Debenham, Mike Kingsnorth, Justin Reece, Moe Moussawi and myself. Now that would be the only one of its kind ever. Congratulations to the person who caught it.

And wow what can I say about the bikini class. I loved it and the auditorium although they were quiet. they were actually electrified. . The class of girls we had was far superior to that of the last event, only because the girls knew more of what we required in that class. The winner was clear cut, gorgeous, toned, and not over the top in any way. I was peaking out from backstage at the audience and I can honestly say I saw more than a few jaws drop when she walked out from behind the curtain. There will always be the knockers who hate the class and dont see it as bodybuilding - well it is not bodybuilding and either do we advertise it as such. It is a model bikini class and if they dont want to watch it then they can choose to take a loo break cos model bikini is here to stay. Going back to the class, one of the competitors was far to dark and one was far too pale but once again with this class we are learning as we go on and competitors will be penalised or rewarded for following the criteria and in our next event the girls will be presented as expected. It is up to us to get the critieria out there and understood by the judges.. . I really hope that this class continues to grow so we can gain some more amazing sponsors who specifically deal with female products or health and fitness. I also hope that introducing this class at every event will encourage the girls to perhaps move up into the figure classes.. One of the girls Sarah Goldsmith from MataMata is doing just that and entering the Figure at the CNI this week. So good luck to Sarah.

Well after the elite I had to say goodbye to my gorgeous daughter who has been living with me for 3 months but has now returned to London to live. Jordie and I baked her a gorgeous banana and choc cake. Was devine. We embarrasingly took it to GPK to have for dessert just cos it is an occasion if I bake a cake. It doesnt happen very often I tell you.

Brad & Jaimee after our dinner and me & my girl.

Brad and Jordie, it was Brads birthday that week so it was abit of a leaving dinner and birthday dinner for Brad
and Jordie and Jaimee the day she left

While Jaimee was here she designed and made baby changing mats, blankets and teddies. The changing mat folded into a bag with pockets for wipes etc. In the end she got an order for 30 of them so it was a huge job for her to get them finished. I was in my element stuffing teddies with dacron and bells, sewing them and screen printing her personally designed labels and washing instructions. We literally finished the order1 hour before Jaimee had to leave for the airport. Talk about pressure. It was an amazing feeling for her to achieve what she set out to do, and a relief also to be able to put the sewing machine away for a few months (and Im happy to have my table back, lol)

Here we are in abit of a state the day before Jaimee was due to fly out.

Jaimee sewing like crazy and Jaimee and Awerangi with the 30 bags which Awerangi ordered to sell on her
Croatia DownUnder website and a pile of the completed bags.. ooh I was proud of her.

The labels and ribbons which I screenprinted by hand - Jaimee was a good teacher

Well next thing to write about is I have had two weeks of completely of training and cardio. I went for 1 hours walk today and intend on walking each day for the next couple of weeks. but I have another 2 weeks of training then I will be back into it with muscle gain the focus. At the moment I am just going to enjoy some cardio, getting things done around my flat, gardening, filling my pots up etc and focusing on my clients who are competing in the CNI and Nationals and spend some time with Jordie. So I havent stayed in guest pose shape exactly but are happy at present until i am hard out training. I accept fluctuations in my weight and dont worry too much about it now and I certainly dont kill myself to do drastic things when I dont have to, but contest time I go hard out and go 100% when I have to. I told somebody the other day that I doubt if I will be competing again and he said "You will - Thats who you are" and I guess I will. Although the arnold in March will be out of my grasp now, but I do have to name my comp and will sort it out soon. For now,my dream is get to London to spend some time with Jaimee and take a trip to Spain with her or somewhere gorgeously hot - fingers crossed I can make them both happen next year.

Well I think I shall get going and get back to my blog this week. Things are exciting with the looming CNI which I wont be going to, but the Nationals, well that is going to be awesome. talk soon xxxx and train your butts off if you are competing. There is no such thing as an easy win.....

3rd September 2009
Guest Posing at the Club Physical Champs

My routine and contest pics here - thank you to Keith Jolly

Well if you think I have been lazy of late with updating the site, that is definately not the case. I have just been so busy... As with everyone, there really isnt enough time in a day to train, cardio, pt people and run my internet service as well, so it has been lots of lost hours of sleep over the last 2-3 weeks. It would be ok if I werent guest posing and trying to get into shape myself so that really does place abit more stress on things with trying to cardio once or twice per day and also trying to train once or twice per day as well.
And trying to learn my routine as well, To tell the truth my routine was complelely put together while out running with my music on my ipod. The song is 5 mins long and I run for 50 minutes so I get to go over the routine in my head 10 times in my head working out moves to go to this part and that part.... So I was running to it for around 3 weeks then finally started putting the physical moves into practice on the tuesday. The barbell part was tricky and a test of strength as trying to get the barbell to not move under me was a feat in itself. I really had to push all my weight into it while doing the movements at the same time... Doing the turn was not to bad at first but then I found that it slipped from under me a couple of times so knowing on a stage was going to be abit harder, I had to practice and practice. I think members of the gym thought I was mad practicing in a squash court with my barbell and high heeled boots but it all turned out ok in the end..So the act on stage ended up ok although the bikini top I had on had absoluley no stretch in it and i could feel it straining and almost breaking while I was pumping it out on the barbell. That would of been a guest pose to remember if the top hadnt of held out.. oops and how embarrasing that would of been.So anyway here we are two days out from the Elite and I am having to keep practicing so i can do it perfectly again this weekend.. Tony LigaLiga guest posed also and he was his usual incredible self..

This is my client Marion. She has worked with me all year and has lost 20kgs. During the year I have never heard Marion moan or not to have a smile on her face. She has given up all her island food and she works for McDonalds as a staff trainer so that must be very difficult at times. Marion is competing in the Elite this weekend but her main goal was to represent Tonga in Tahiti in 4 weeks times.. I am very very proud of her.

Stiff leg deadlifts in heels, not something you see very often really.

Anyway we have some awesome competitors this weekend at the Elite. It may well be a smallish show, but I know some of the competitors are awesome and I cant wait tobe there. Im really excited about seeing Mike Debenham guest pose and hear all about his Pro Shows he has just gotten back from. Moe Moussawi is guest posing as well so the entertainment should be very motivating. We have an awesome Elite guy out from Hungry and his very fit fitness competitor girlfriend. Im abit scared to let her see my routine...lol. I will look very amateur compared to her. Im also very very excited about the bikini girls who are at this event - quality... There are a couple of outstanding bodies e in this class. Well that wraps it up for me so I shall get back on sunday with loads of pics from the shows.

See you at the event. xx

Check out my latest interview with an international website

13 August 2009

If you wondering why I am not updating this site lately, its not cos I am lazy or that I am over it. But I have been running out of room and everytime I need to update, then I have to delete previous things, alot of it, , so I am getting over doing it as it takes forever. I want to get video on here anyway so time for a total new site soon. Just too busy at present with things to get it done yet but after the events, well then it will be all go..

Well a few exciting things have been going on. Moe, myself and Suraya Dewing had a photo shoot at the gym the other night. It was kind of impromtu as in, well we didnt know it was going to be so full on, and though we were just having one pic snapped together to promotoe the Elite Event. But we ended up with this fabolous woman called Michelle from the "Aucklander" who took about 400 pics.. We were training legs, and she got right in and wanted hard core shots. No pretty stuff. We were doing some sets of 100 reps so it wasnt pretty one little bit. Moe did 150 reps on Leg Press starting with 300kgs fo 20 reps and we continued dropping one plate off each side for 20 reps until he was finished. He just keeps digging deeper that guy. Im used to training that intensity with Moe, and love it, but Suraya had quite a shock to her system, thats for sure.

Not long for the club Physical competition now and also the Elite Event. Im looking forward to both events really, 1 cos they are going to be very good and 2, well I can stop dieting after the.... Work is busy for me at the moment with the girls coming into competition and my internet business is busy as... Takes alot of work keeping up inbetween training and cardio'ing myself and working in the gym as well. We have some amazing aussie competitors coming out for the Elite all of whom I cant wait to meet so make sure you get your tickets for the event and come and see some of the top competitors coming out to be judged in the Elite.. the best of the best remember. The bikini class is going to be brilliant this time with some very well balanced girls coming into the second event of the year. This event, our Bikini Class is sponsored by Ruby Waxx and also NZ Fitness will be featuring the winning bikini competitor in the next magazine - thanks to Raechelle Chase, so that is an amazing opportunity and worth competing for.

Last weekend I got together with my Rotorua girls that I am helping. In 3 weeks they had dropped 18.5kgs between them which was absolutely awesome. Their posing has improved ten-fold so they have been practicing heaps for sure. All of the five were so brilliant to work with last weekend as they had such good results and were so hpyed that it was awesome to see. I took them for a PUMP class too which I loved. Nothing like bossing the group around for an hour. Anyway 3 of them are competing at the elite then going ahead for the CNI and nationals.... go girls.

I have been busy dieting as I said before. Doing cardio once or twice a day - I have my commmercial stepper here at my house again now, so that is sweet. I love it!! I have a sore foot at the moment now and havent ran for two weeks now so doing all indoor cardio. I think I can just about try a run again on Sunday this weekend so fngers crossed.. I miss it so so much. I have also been training twice per day most day. Mark and I train at 8.00am in the morning with Moe sometimes, then again in the evening. It works for me doing it that way and we have had some awesome sessions this weekend.
I have been getting things ready for guest posing to and choosing outfits. Tracey and Glenda from www.bodybuildingbikinis.com have made me some awesome ones and I decided to try on this PVC one which I last wore in 2004. I loved it then, but fell in love with it again yesterday.. But they are coming up with another creation for me for these posing events so I cant wait. I just love what they make me anyway.... how exciting to open the package and find what is inside.

Im going to get myself some real definition over the next 3 weeks... lol. Actually about the bikini, I still really love this one and it proves to me that you dont always need a highly decorated bikini.... They can look too busy sometimes and just be too distracting although they are gorgeous..

The bike for my photo shoot next week - wow.. can I handle it??

I have a photo shoot on Wednesday night with Rosemary and Peter from www.photoshoot.co.nz and this is a real special one. They have the most beautiful motor bike which I get to shoot with so I am very very lucky and really excited about that. I have been busy looking for a few outfits to wear for that one so no doubt you will see the pictures in a week or so. Gosh I just so lucky to have all their support. We went there again on Wednesday night for another shoot with Jaimee so when those pics comes through I am sure she will let me post one. The do a shoot called "purple rain" where they set up a shower nozzle in the studio and do some amazing shots.... Jaimee was a little wet but she really enjoyed it and the pics taken were amazing..

Two weeks ago I had my kids around for dinner. I cooked us all a gorgeous meal when I got home from training and this is them while Mum here was doing the dishes. No they werent at an internet cafe, this is at my place. I think it is hilarous. Here was me washing and drying the dishes and they were just getting on with their facebook lives or playing some online game... Of course if we had a 4th laptop I would of been there too but sadly there were only 3 in our house. lol.

I have my new car, but I will take photos this weekend with it..... I love it so much, my little VW Beetle, silver and will be signwritten in bright pink and black. Its a spunky lil thing. Now just have to get rid of the mummy wagon but it will come in handy over the Elite weekend for anybody of the aussie teams who needs carrying around. Ok Im off to bed now. Saturday is a big work day for me so off I go. Train hard everyone. xxx JO

30th July 2009

Im very excited about being sponsored by www.Missfitclothing.com

I have had a funny few weeks... Firstly I would like to say thank you so much to Ken from MissFit clothing who has now given me clothing sponsorship. He has sent me two tee's so far which have caused abit of interest at the gym.
One saying " The 3 B's - beauty brains & biceps"
and another saying
"Stronger than your average bitch"
I love them and cant wait to get more..I know quite a few of the kwiw girls have ordered already and knew about them well before I did, but there is nothing like them here in NZ unless you take the trouble to get them printed yourself. Who would bother when they are so easy to order online and the prices are so good too...

What else has been happening. Well I have brought a new car. A VW Beetle but I dont get to pick that up until next week - thats so exciting.. It will be signwritten etc so good advertising for my business.. Over the last week I have done some health checks myself and put my cat through them also. I went in for a mammogram last week. Now anyone with implants will tell you how bad they are - as they have to push and prod and manouver each breast into the machine - and they also need to push the implant to one side while doing so. This is not just once, but from all different angles etc. It is painfully hideous and I hate them.. But they are necessary. Next day I went in and had a couple of moles checked out at the Skin Centre in Blockhouse bay which were all ok, but I chose to have them removed which was Tuesdays job...So I have had 2 lasered off and one cut off so that has only a stitch in it.. so now the healing is happening. It is good to get all the health things sortedout girls so dont delay yours at all.

There have been lots of decision going on with me at the moment. I had 3 birds which I loved, but was so tied of the seed being spat out over the floor etc and the room that the huge cage took up, so I decided to advertise the poor lil things. I had 8 replys in a matter of hours from people who wanted them so yesterday my 3 birds left to begin a new life in an aviary and my cat "Ash" came home with me since she had been living with Mark.. So I took Ash off to the vet today and she had all her health checks as well. Including a blood test for feline aids ( she must of been practicing safe sex) , test result was negative - and now she is having a series of aids preventions injections. I just about spend more on her than I do on myself - like most people with pets.

Well training has been going really well. We have started training with Moe again and had the first workout with him this morning. He is 8 weeks out from the Olympia and is looking big and lean. Mark is training us, and it is very very motivating having Moe around again. He trains hard and sometimes I just dont know where he pulls another rep from, then he does 10 more. I have been so good with my supplements and have been taking Tornado which slows muscle fatigue so you can do more reps etc. I have been having some awesome workouts since taking it..

Me & Moe getting together for training again with our competitions in mind, and Mark who trains the both of us - hard and relentlessy -
I swear I heard Moe crying today on the bench press.

Oh well Im off to bed now. One more thing before I sign off. Mike Debenham, my good friend is off to the States this weekend to compete in his first pro show next weekend. Go for it Mike. NZ is so proud of Mike and eager to see him do well.
signing for for now - Jo.

17th July 2009

The only gloves I could find to teach my Michale Jackson Tribute Pump Class in. What a class! I could hardly walk or move my arms for 3 days afterwards.

What a week it has been this week.. I have been kinda sad cos my daughter was supposed to return back to London tomorrow ( Saturday) but now she is going to be here a little while longer. Her work visa was declined yet again by the British Embassy for two stupid reasons. One being a mistake was made with her salary which showed she was 12 pound per year short of the amount she was supposed to earn in the UK, so she missed out for that, and the second reason being, they once again did not recognise the statements from her bank as genuine copies - which were issued by her bank and officially stamped by the bank - they were as official as a bank could make them. So we have been very frustrated and upset over the whole situation. So right now we are left in limbo as it will cost a further $750 to reapply - she has already paid $1500 for the applications and we have no idea whether she will be granted it in the long run if we apply again.
So in the meantime I have her with me still which I love, but I feel for her as her career was heading in the right direction for awhile and that has all changed now. I can only keep my fingers crossed for her and hope that something short of a miricle happens and we can get this sorted out.
Well it was the last week of the school hols. Work has been quieter in the gym for me, but just as busy with my online clients. I held a seminar on Sunday for a team of girls who are competing soon. We had an awesome time. We started with me teaching them my new treadmill workout.. They were really excited by it, and challenged too.... It was good watching them going through it, sweating after only 6-7 mins. We went from there to do a 30 mins leg workout which consisted of leg press, stiff leg deadlifts, reverse lunges, hanging leg raises, broomstick extensions, and squat jumps. we did ( weI meaning they)
did it in circuit fashion and I think it blew them away. Poor girls had travelled nearly 3 hours by car to come and see me and that was their reward. Abit stink aye. After that we had group discussion and I handed out journels which i prepared for them to take home. then it was bikini time. In the 4 hours or was it 4.5 hours, we did all that plus I taught them posing. They were brilliant. So I am looking so forward to seeing them again in another 3or so weeks to check out how thier dieting has been going and their posing practice. Just for abit of a surprise I invited Mark to come and talk to them about a judges veiw of what to expect from the competitors. They loved it - I think. He wasnt too scary for them. I sent them home with a dvd I had made for them the day before, some new programmes to try, and some of my beloved BSc caramel protein powder.. They were drooling over the smell of the powder. lol. Nice group of girls and so easy to get along with

The girls from Rotorua - from left Raana, Carolyn, Jane, Barbara, me and Nataria

After the seminar I spoke to Mike Debenham who is only 3 weeks away now from his first Pro show in Tampa. He is guest posing at the ELITE event, me too!, so we have decided to do a boot camp seminar. I will get more details on site about this in the next week or two after we confirm the venue but it will be a Club Physical gym possibly Te Atatu or K Road. We will be accepting 10 females and 10 males who will be split into group for the boot camp part. You can be sure of a brilliant workout as Mike and I have been training partners in the past, are very good friends and top PT's. The seminar part will involved anything and everything bodybuilding..
if you are interested drop me a line and we can put your name down, Only the super serious need come cos it will be one hell of a afternoon..

Jaimee's photo shoot with www.photoshoot.co.nz

Want Beauty Treatments????
This week my daughter and I have had the treatments. We had a photo shoot on Wednesday night, me, Jaimee, Brad and Jordie, so me and my kids so Jaimee had a spray tan, teeth whitening, we both had hand and nail manicures then we had our eyebrows threaded.. So we were very busy at being made beautiful.
We had some amazing family shots done then Jaimee had her own lingerie/bikini shoot. My god, she looked stunning. My daughter was a natural for the camera. What has taken me 20 years to learn, was just so natural to her. Rosemary and Peter have an amazing Studio. Peter was sick on the night so Rosemary took the four of us on all by herself. Poor thing was running around doing lighting, props, and taking the pics., We tried to help where possible. i think we helped a little. I shall post some pics up when we get them through from them, Jaimee's photo shoot pics are through already so we are just waiting on the family ones now.

I have given given the chance to try out the new salon at Les Mills in the city - Rubywaxx so I am going to get booked and go have a trial of some treatments. So it will a trip to the city, in for a train the pop in to be made gorgeous.. simple aye. let me know if you have beaten me there - I'd love to hear a review..

Other News
Oh just some other little incidental things. Mark is working at the supplement store in Henderson now. On the main road, park at the mall if you cant get parking outside, and they have a full range of all Extreme Nutrition supps..He is hoping to get other things in their as well. I am willing to help Mark out sometimes by working in the store - as long as I can have my computer with me to get online work down while nobody is in the store so if I decide on some regular hours, then you can pop in and purchase some supps off me. I will be working on getting the Bsc range in store and the compression clothing so if BSc is there on the shelves, then i wil be behind the desk.. Anyway pop in and see Mark sometimes. He can take a look at your physique as well and give you abit of feedback - you will either hear your too fat or too skinny, too big or too small. lol - but take the risk. Lots of other bits and pieces.
Training is picking up a notch this week. Im going to be into my cardio big time beginning this week. I am guest posing at the club Physical comp and the Elite so have some work ahead of me. It has taken some getting my head around dieting cos I really just want to gain some size for a Pro show next year but the posing stints have come around again.... Boy Im like anyone... If I havent got a contest in my mind, then it is very hard getting my head into the dieting. One day it is there, the next day it is gone. Im never far away from being on a good diet, so I dont stray very much, but this week coming will be a test for me.. So Saturday/Sunday are my last treat days - in treats I mean some rice or extra kumara or whatever. it will be hard out from there in. Anyway I will love you and leave you.
Jackie Jarrett is almost ready to fly away to the States for her Pro shows so if you see her give her a pat on the back, and of course Mike D... and Moe is well into his training for the Olympia. Mike Kingsnorth has started Personal training also somewhere over the shore so if you want to chase him down for a training session, then contact me and i can give you his number... Right Im off to bed. Train hard and be good. I just love this quote below. I think of it all the time now., well I will from next week onwards. bye for now

Mastering others is strength. Mastering yourself is true power. -- I got myself wrapped around my fingers...

5th July 2009

Another great week this week. Work has been busy, training has been good and I have had some old clients return this week and new ones beginning so it has been great to work witih them. I have had a cold, sore throat and chesty broncitis thing for a couple of weeks now. Just when I think it is going away, then I am awake most of the night coughing and carrying on.. Hopefully I will see the end to it this weekend. I have been loving my new cardio programme but I must admit I havent done it myself for the last few days.. Tomorrow is another day. I have started on my new BSc supplement Tornado and Im loving it. Mike K had raved on about it awhile ago to me and it has taken me this long to begin to use it as i thought that I may of held water with it, but that hasnt been the case. The pump while training is awesome, and physically I am getting more reps outs so thats a big plus... so dont be scared to try it girls... If anyone were to hold water it would be "Sponge-like Jo" and I havent so try it out. Particulary you girls in comp mode at the moment who may be struggling with lower diets etc - now is the time to try it..

My two older kids went to Chch yesterday for a week. i took them to the airport early yesterday morning before work so I have a quiet home at the moment as Jordie is at his dads this weekend. There is lots going on around me at the moment. I was debating on looking for a new and bigger flat as mine is lovely but a little small but will stick it out for another month then look at changing.. Being small it has been great for the winter as it gets warm and cosy so quickly so that has been a bonus.
Im also looking at totally changing my website so that is coming up.... I am on the search now for somebody to do this for me, so if you reading this, and can do this, then I would be happy to hear from you. I am after video on the site, and a members section also and I want to be able to upload everything myself so the design is all I am requiring..

Lightly seared and rare Scotch Fillet NZ Steak topped with generous tsp ( alright 1/2 a can) of chop chop chicken in mayo topped with whole grain mustard

Oh I love my food ( and my gin). Yesterday one of the guys at work was boasting quite proudly of the pig out meals that he had been eating, and the desserts - it sounded like he had gone to that disgusting Valentines, but he hadnt, it was all personally brought my himself, but I could honestly say that it sounded just hideous.. I love cheat food sometimes, but all of what he had in one morning was gross. I couldnt imagine being comfortable or even wanting to eat half the stuff.

So with that in mind, I am very very happy with my own concoctions that I make to satisfy my desire for lovely food, witih texture and taste..
Although I do sometimes crave carbs, I feel so much better not having them... This morning had 1/4 cup oats with my eggs and protein powder ( i have been skipping the oats lately), then i skipped morning tea and lunch until I went out and brought myself a treat around 2.30. It was a toss up between salmon steak and steak and the steak won. Im not really big on the chop chop chicken ranges usually, well i wasnt until i discovered the one with shredded chicken and mayo, so decided that was a perfect topping for my steak. I had way enough protein to begin with the steak but hey, for the gorgeous taste the additional protein in the form of shredded chicken and mayo, I didnt care a hoot if my body didnt get to utilise all the protein.. it was way to yummy to not have. so this is another option for you to try out... You can skip the chop chop and top with tuna in tomato and basil. Now that would be super yummy as well.

Some great websites: I love surfing the net as we all do.. I love the forums to but dont have alot of time for them, but these two are the ones I scan every day

Australian Bodybuilding ( the most up-to-date and unbiased bodybuilding site in Australasia)

Siouxcountry - my favourite american website keeping me in the loop with all the up and coming competitors)

make up forum Whats there not to find out on this site - I love it

running skirts Just for the hell of it I want Kirsty to get one. Then I will take her running and count the toots....

Guzza - for when you think you are having a tough time training and feeling sorry for yourselfs

Ok well Im off now to have read of a book... My daughter said I need to have it finished before she gets home on Wednesday so I will try my best.
bye for now, Jo.

Dieting again!
Oh well its that time again! Stints of dieting come around often and so quickly too, but as you all know, I really like the process.
I have a guest pose coming up in 9 weeks so it is a little early for full on dieting, but I want to get into good shape to book another photo shoot with Peter and Rosemary www.photoshoot.co.nz shortly as I have some ideas for some pics and cant wait to do some.
So today is day 3 of no carbs and I feel heaps lighter already..

Tuesday last week I had the day off work in the gym. it was great to have a day off, but I did go to work at 5.00 which kind of interfered with the day really as it was a mad rush to get there. Here I am in Huntly with Olivia, my girlfriend and Hairdresser, and Olivia with my son Brad, Erin ( Jaimee's friend) and Jaimee my daughter.

Me again with my ProCard.. I think I will be taking a new pic every week to put on here.. lol.. well it is kinda exciting

OMG, I have to tell you. I have put together the most amazing cardio programme on the treadmill and they are tough!!! That is an understatement. Today after doing them 2 days in a row, I can hardly walk. Now thats a good thing for me, so I have got my favourite form of cardio now and I'm so hyped for cardio its not funny.
I had to stop myself from doing it again today cos i am so sore and I dont think it is wise for me to do it 3 days in a row. I was doing cardio beside Jenny Hendershot one night before the Arnold event and saw that she was doing some amazing things on the treadmill, so I copied a few this week, then added some of my own and now, I have the most perfect combo. And as a result Im going to have the most conditioned and awesome legs on stage this time.... I can dream!
I took a client through some of it today and she loved it ( she said gritting her teeth) and I took Shelley Blackner through it the other day too and she was so excited so I will be busy writing up the programme for it tomorrow and adding the pics, and putting it on video, for you to order. . So we can all have many alternatives for cardio beside just running outside in the rain.

I've had a few extra meals this week knowing the dieting was just around the corner, Nothing too bingey, but we went to Valentines for Jordies 11th birthday and had abit of a pig out there. The food there is pretty yuk, the kids loved if of course but Im hoping that I never ever get to experience that again.. It was overpriced yuk worse than average budget tastless or gluggy food.. Mmmph I would make a terrible food critic. The best thing about the place was I had all my kids together, so I was a goohey mum...

Ok this is my salmon slice I made for lunch today, and dinner lol. Im adding this for those of you who constantly say they dont know what to cook. This salmon slice has no carbs, apart from a packet of steamed veges.
It contains 1 can of salmon - unsalted
1 whole egg
7 egg whites
1 tbsp of wholegrain mustard
3-4 olive
6-10 capers
1 tinniest sprinkle of parmersan cheese.. and it was baked in a non stick tin for 25-30 mins.
I could of cooked it as an omelette like I usually do, but I think when we are dieting we need different textures to samplel, and how the top browns with the addition of a little parmersan is delish.. I dribbled some balsamic glaze in it and it went down a treat,.. Im easily satified though..
26 grams of protein for the salmon
22.4 for the egg whites
12 grams protein for whole egg...

so it has 60 odd grams of protein for one slice and its easy as.
So for me, this is only 2 serves so I get 30grams protein per meal or for you figure girls or dieters, you and split it into 3 meals and have 20grams of protein per meal. Its so easy to make and you can cut and throw into the freezer and take out for your lunch for work.

Well I have to get ready for training again. Im going to get writing a bit more often and adding to recipes etc while in dieting mode. Im waiting on a new order to arrive from BSc with my new supps so I shall write about what I am going to be taking in regards to supplements over the next 9 weeks.
xxx bye for now..

IFBB Pro
June 20th 2009

Well the Auckland champs was a good day for all including the athletes and myself.
For one it was a really good day at the event and the evening event, although very long, it was really entertaining and full of excitement.
Not only cos of the atmosphere of the event which was made electric by the amazing guest posers of the night, the entertaining dance troupe, and the two Mc's Terry Hill and Charlie Kingsnorth (Wife of IFBB Pro Michael Kingsnorth) but also the highlight of the event for me
was being presented with my Pro card. I had been humming and haa'ing about my pro card for many years but after returning from the Arnold and placing 3rd in the middle weight division - I was not disallusioned at all, but more wondering what to do from there.
I basically had 3 choices.
Choice 1 - Gain more size and stay in the amateur division
Choice 2 - Gain more size and try the Pro Division
Choice 3 - give up all together.

IFBB Pro and event organiser - Moe El Moussawi awarding me with my Pro Card

Well as many of you know, I dont give up, and thought that if I needed to gain more size, then I may as well give the Pro ranks a try.
Of course the competition is going to be so much harder, but I think it is just the motivtion I need to dig deep and really get stuck in.
So if all things go well, I will be competing next year in the Arnold again, in the Pro Division. People have been exceptionally supportive and emails and fbook messages have poured in which has been amazing. One very very negative email arrived this morning from "Funchick" who rubbished absolutely everything about me, but she has only given me more motivation. Negitivity only strengthens me as an athlete and I am an athlete 12 months of the year so my mental strength is as strong as my physical strength ... stronger perhaps and it takes much more than the typed words of some faceless nasty person to knock me.

Charlie our fantastic MC for the evening and Mark, and me with Cherry my client 57 years old and her first comp.

IFBB Pro Mike Kingsnorth and Charlie, and the 7 girls in the new Model Bikini Class

IFBB Pro Mike Debenham who was guest posing for the evening and Chris Chase who came back to competition after 10 years away from the sport

So anyway this blog now is still going to be the same basically except my goals are now bigger. Our sport is one which rewards us all whether we win that trophy at the end of the day or just reach or own minor goals and I get rewarded by knowing that I have done the best I can possibly do. . We went to Jenny Gates seminar today and she was telling us of how she would never of imagined she would of won the Olympia. We wif we give up at the the first sign of hardship. My bodybuilding career up till now has been very rewarding. I have done things I would never of dreamed of 10 years ago and I owe it to myself to go this extra step and give the ultimate goal a go. I definately do not have many career years left now - some say none left at all, but I have the confidence I can bring myself into my best condition over the next year and go on and represent NZ till the best of my ability.. Ive got nothing to lose. Well Im off to bed. I have heaps of pics to put on site tomorrow sometime so check back in soon... xx
